    FARMERS TRUST RONALD REAGAN
Because Ronald Reagan Keeps His Promises
• In 1980, Candidate Reagan promised
to curb inflation. He did. Inflation
has dropped from 12 percent to 4
percent. Every percentage point
decline in inflation has saved $1.5
billion in farm production expenses.
• In 1980, Candidate Reagan promised
to revitalize the economy. He did.
Interest rates have dropped from
21.5 percent to 12.5 percent. Every
percentage point decline translates
into a $2 to $3 billion savings in net
farm income.
• In 1980, Candidate Reagan promised
to reduce taxes. He did. He generat
ed a 25 percent across-the-board
income tax cut. He also removed
excess estate taxes, preserving the
family farm by reducing the chance
a family might have to sell the farm
to pay estate taxes.

• In 1980, Candidate Reagan promised
that farmers would never by singled
out to bear the brunt of any embargo.
As promised, he lifted the Carter-
Mondale grain embargo. He has
since engineered a five-yeac trade
pact with the Soviet Union. But
above all, the United States has re
gained its reputation as a reliable
supplier in the global marketplace.
• Today, President Reagan needs your
support to continue these sound
economic policies. Agriculture is
economically and socially vital to
our nation. President Reagan’s
policies will provide a sustained,
broad-based growth in agriculture.
