CONNEAUTVILLE - The
Crawford County Council of Farm
Organizations held its third annual
recognition and awards banquet on
Oct. 10 at the Conneautville
Fireball.
The Council is comprised of
representatives from 23 ag related
committees and organizations.
The Council has been instrumental
in organizing the annual Farm-
City Day, making improvements
at the County Fair, and working
for an improved facihty for the
county’s Cooperative Extension
Service. The Council has also in
stituted an Ag-Industry Award and
a Hall of Fame Award.
Ag Industry Award in Crawford County goes to Pennbank
representatives. Ron Kerr accepts award from Craig Powell,
treasurer of Crawford Council of Farm Organizations. Other
Pennbank reps are, from the left, Dave Fitch, John Tracy and
Dave Coon.
This year the Ag-Industry Award
went to Pennbank for giving
outstanding service to Crawford
County agriculture. Pennbank is a
strong supporter of youth activities
as seen by their consistent pur
chasing at 4-H livestock sales and
their generosity in presenting 4-H
and FFA awards.
The honored farmer named to
the Hall of Fame this year was Will
Hasbrouck, a retired dairyman
from Titusville. Hasbrouck retired
in the ‘6o’s after building his 50-
acre farm into a 500-acre dairy
operation. At that time he turned
the acreage over to his sons, two of
which still farm there. At age 89,
Will Hasbrouck has been enjoying
his retirement in Florida for the
in Crawford
most part but returned a few years
ago to reside in the city of
Titusville, near his family.
Hasbrouck was selected for the
prestigious award in recognition of
achievements in his own farming
operation and service to the
community and in various county
farm organizations.
An award was also presented
during the program to the
Executive Director of Farm-City
Day. This year the one to do the
major task of planning and
organizing the various activities
for the event was Ron Kerr, Ag.
Loan officer for Pennbank, of
Titusville.
The Joseph Urbaruck family of
Conneautville was also honored for
hosting the Farm-City Day which
repeatedly draws crowds of ap
proximately 2000 persons
