FRUIT
VEGETABLES
Apple Market
Monday, October 15
Report supplied by PDA
Demand is fair to good, prices
are remaining steady, supplies are
excellent and quality is very good.
This year, we have one of the
best marketable apple crops in
recent years. Size is good, though
not as good as was first an
ticipated, quality of fruit, as
mentioned above is very good,
finish is excellent and quantities
are adequate.
October is National Apple
Month. The Pennsylvania Apple
Marketing Board is promoting
apples on radio, through recipe
book offers and through store
buyer contacts, just to name a few
promotional areas. The Adams
County Fruit Growers, in
cooperation with the Upper Adams
Jaycees have just ended the an
nual National Apple Harvest
Festival, held in Adams County
every October. Tens of thousands
of people attended this festival this
year from all over the Northeast
and were made aware of Penn
sylvania’s fine apple crop. Keep
these factors in mind as you are
selling you fruit. Pennsylvania
apples are very competitive with
other state’s apple crops. Com
monwealth growers have a
product they should be proud of.
Don’t underate this year’s apple
crop.
