is in her last year in 4-H and looks
forward to going to the national
Jersey show in Louisville, Ky.,
with this hefier. CLV Gemini Sweet
Shamrock, was the first place
junior yearling in the show.
Best bred and owned honors
went to the 1983 National Jersey
Queen, * Patricia Dreisbach,
Hamburg, Berks County, and her
first place three year old entry,
Wilderness Samson Silk. With
Patty away at college,, her heifer
was shown by her sister, Carol, the
current Pennsylvania State Jersey
Queen, who is looking forward to
surprising Patty with this win.
The Ayrshire show was topped
by Debra Shetterly, Dauphin
County, and her three-year-old
entry, Sycamore Meade Champ’s
Luvie. “Luvie” took first place and
best udder honors in her class
before going on to win the grand
championship. Shetterly repeated
her win of 1983 when she also
topped this show.
Reserve grand champion honors
went to Lona Rader, the daughter
of “Lancaster Farming”
correspondent, Barbara Rader,
Butler County. Lona’s aged cow
entry, Ash Avenue Supreme, was
purchased in Vermont for Lona
to show because there was a lack of
heifer calves bom on her parents’
Holstein and Ayrshire dairy.
The junior championship and
best bred and owned animal was
the intermediate calf of Steven
Shetterly, Dauphin County.
Sycamore Meade Oracle’s Betsy is
a daughter of Hammonds Oracle
and her dam was the 1983 reserve
grand champion of this show.
Nine-year-old Amy Kline, Butler
County, won the reserve junior
championship with her junior calf,
Kline Farm Brandi.

“This year we did it,” exclaimed
Jon Zollers, Berks County, when he
and his aged cow, Foxie Springs
Falcon Lady bested over 80 entries
in the Guernsey show. Taking the
grand championship. “Ladv” and
Zollers topped off a summer of
championships and also last year’s
title of reserve grand champion. In
October this stylish cow will be
eight years old and has awarded
her young owner not only with
many championship ribbons but
also with five heifer calves in a
row.
Beth Clark, Bedford County,
took the reserve grand cham
pionship ribbons with Misty
Meadows Lad Clover, her senior
two year old. The junior cham
pionship and best bred and owned
honors went to Curtiss Feathers,
Bedford County, and his
homebred, Green Slopes Pompey
Patrician. Reserve junior
championship was awarded to the
senior calf of Racquelle Fava,
Washington County.
