Southwest-District 4-H Dairy Show

eight counties participating in the
show were; Armstrong, Bedford,
Blair, Cambria, Clearfield,
Huntington, Indiana and Somerset.
The day began with the
exhibition of the Brown Swiss.
Christie Booher, Huntington
County, was the owner of the grand
champion Brown Swiss while
Susan Nehrig, Indiana county,
exhibited the reserve grand
champion Brown Swiss.
In the Jersey competition the
Hardy family from Huntington
county dominated both junior,
senior, and grand championships.
Janice Hardy captured the grand
champion title while James Hardy,
Janice’s brother, exhibited the
reserve grand champion Jersey of
the show.
Paul Carr from Somerset county
represented the Holstein ‘breed
with his grand champion 3-year
old cow. Greg Edwards, Indiana
county, was the owner of the
reserve grand champion Holstein.
A Bedford county resident
received the grand champion title
in the Guernsey competition. Beth
Ann Clark exhibited her senior
two-year-old cow to claim this title.
Gina Yaple of Clearfield was the
owner of the reserve grand
champion Guernsey.
Every year a special award is
given to the outstanding Guernsey
showman at the conclusion of the
Guernsey show. This award is
presented by Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Smith, Bedford County, in memory
of their daughter Lon Anne. Lon
Anne was an active member in the
