Prices dip at Pa. State BY ROBIN PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent LANCASTER It was a good day for buyers but a poor sale for consignors as the 37 head of registered Jersey cows and heifers at the annual Pennsylvania State Jersey Sale sold for an average of $891.67. Last Saturday’s sale featured top pedigrees from across the state whose prices averaged barely more than half of what they did at this sale last year. The crowd at the Guernsey Sales Pavilion, Lancaster, witnessed several animals surpass the $1500.00 mark with spirited bid ding. Topping the sale was the bull consignment from Dr. Robert and Helen Dreisbach, R 3 Hamburg. Wilderness Dandy - ET sold for $3600.00 to Noba, Inc., Tiffin, Ohio, and a syndicate of shareholders. One-half of these proceeds will be used for the 1985 Annual Meeting of the American Jersey Cattle Club to be held in Lancaster next June. Shares were sold prior to the start of the bidding for $lOO.OO each to 30 shareholders who agreed to join in the syndicate to prove this young bull.
