To her right is the show’s top junior showman, Alan Steadman. ? , St* 9 *m i * V BY BARBARA RADER Staff Correspondent STONEBORO - Held in con junction with the Great Stoneboro Fair, the fifth Junior Northwestern Polled Hereford Show was ac companied by bucketfuls of rain over the Labor Day weekend. But with trophies at stake, the youngsters didn’t seem to mind treading through the mud. Grand champion female as well as champion bred-and-owned laurels went to Lisa Brudney of Valencia, with the reserve champion being exhibited by Robert Poole of Stoneboro. Both senior fitting and showmanship awards went to Shelbee Poole of Stoneboro. The event’s top junior showman was Alan Steadman of Cochranton, Lisa Brudney of Valencia exhibited the grand champion female in both junior and open competition at this year’s Junior Northwest Polled Hereford Association Show held in conjunction with the Great Stoneboro Fair. Her heifer, Sundance Lady, was sired by Wild Cat Sundance 7K. With Lisa is her sister Allison displaying her Junior Show trophy. Trophies for the show were provided by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McClellan, Lisa Brudney, Kris Schultz, Elroy Dalton, and the Junior club. Handling judging respon sibilities were Craig Smith of Fence Post Farm, Franklin, for the Junior event, and Butler County agent Curt Hughes for the open show. Youngsters traveled from four counties to participate, with all exhibitors receiving a Junior Northwestern Polled Hereford Association T-shirt. In other Stoneboro Fair beef show action, the McKean Brothers exhibited the champion Angus bull and female, with George Hunter vt * vivi nyv t. • i\i taking - the same championship awards in Shorthorn competition and Brian Kasbee showing the champion Simmental bull and female. The Fair’s champion steer was shown by Nancy McDowell, with Kevin Minor taking reserve champion honors. In sheep competition, Ken Scott’s Rambouillet was named supreme champion ewe, and Bob Burdick took champion ram honors with his Dorset.
