This month, Boscov’s department stores everywhere are sponsoring 4-H Day, to increase public awareness of the nation’s largest out-of-school youth program. In Delaware, 4-H Day will be celebrated on Sep tember 22, at Boscov’s in the Dover Mall. 4-'( From 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., members of the area 4-H clubs will present demonstrations and exhibit the projects, photographs and posters they’ve created. Games, refreshments, and a petting zoo will be available, and Delaware’s dairy princess will be on hand. The 4-H’ers will model fashions they’ve made at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Several competitions will be open to the public as well as to 4-H members throughout the state: a bike rodeo, a dog show, a pet show, and a cheesecake bake-off. The bike rodeo, open to 4-H and other youths aged 9 to 19, features obstacle courses, a bike safety check, and a safety program. Awards will be offered in several categories. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the event will start at 11. The dog show, which will be held at 1 p.m., is open to 4-H youth, other youth, and adults. Within those classes, awards will be presented for the best-groomed short-haired dog, the best-groomed long-haired dog, the most obedient dog, and the best dog costume. Registration for the cheesecake contest will take place at 2 p.m. This contest, too, is open to 4-H members, other young people, and adults. The only restrictions are that the entry must be a cake, not a pie; it must be baked; and the recipe must be submitted along with the entry.
