Livestock market and auction news
Omaha Weekly
Thursday, September 13,1984
Report Supplied by USDA
A 2.00-3.00 drop in dressed beef
prices led fed cattle lower with
losses of 1.25-1.50 prevailing at mid
week. Pressure was also brought
to bear by liberal slaughter rates
and an increased movement of
direct purchases from country
points. Ideal feeding weather
prompted some improvement in
overall finish, although the usual
discounts still applied on light
weight or ‘short-fed’ kinds. Cows 50
higher, bulls weak.
Estimated 5 day receipts 8150;
actuals last week 5943 and last
year 9352. Steers comprised 49 pet
of the week’s receipts; heifers 37
pet; cows 10 pet; feeders 3 pet.
