award sponsored by Elderton State Bank recognizes an outstanding dairy member with

Solar hot water seminars scheduled
NORRISTOWN - Did you know
that in Pennsylvania you can buy a
solar hot water system and pay for
only one third of the cost?
The Grass Roots Alliance for a
Solar Pennsylvania and the
Pennsylvania Energy Center,
Region I want to help you get into
low cost solar hot water. Thanks to
the Solar Bank and the Federal tax
credits, solar energy is more
available than ever. The Solar
Bank provides a direct grant to you
for 40 percent of the system’s cost.
The federal tax credit can be
applied to the remaining 60 per
cent.
GRASP and PEC I will be
presenting an introduction to solar
hot water heating at the Mon
tgomery County 4-H Center in
Lansdale on September 13 from 7
to 8:30 p.m. The seminar will cover
the types of solar hot water
systems currently available, the
costs and expected savings
associated with the systems and

The seminar will be presented by
Tom Lent and Barry Davis,
GRASP members. Tom Lent is an
experienced solar technician who
has worked with the Franklin
Institute Solar Center and the
Philadelphia Solar Planning
Project. Barry Davis is an energy
consultant and energy program
manager. Tom and Barry recently
presented two very successful all
day workshops on how to build or
buy a “batch” solar system at the
Peace Valley and Schuylkill Valley
Nature Centers. They also
presented solar seminars at the
Philadelphia Home Show.
The workshop is being held in
cooperation with the Montgomery
County extension service. To
