Cows, cows, and more cows ore evident in these country crofts
Cows are good subjects - even for pillows and wall
hangings. This applique cow wall hanging was created by
Diane Kendig of York, who uses the same design on pillows
and on a very attractive shirt.
Stained glass makes this
cow look appealing. It was
handcrafted by Joanne Leib,
Bainbridge, in Lancaster
County.
The cow jumped over the moon - and Dawson Gillaspy
created these metal wall hangings to keep the cow in just the
right position.
These intricately carved and painted cows are indicative of the fine workmanship
created by S. Arthur Shoemaker, a designer and craftsman whose woodwork includes a
wide variety of animals and whimsical creatures. Shoemaker is from Lancaster County.

LANCASTER Country crafts
have gained tremendous
popularity over the last few years,
and animals are a favorite subject
for craftsmen. Cows, in every size,
shape and medium, can be found
wherever craftsmen come
together to display their wares.
The cows on this page were all
captured at the 37th annual state
craft fair held in August on the
campus of Franklin and Marshall
College in Lancaster. Over 250
craftsmen were in attendance to
exhibit their work.
Cows and weathervanes make a natural combination, and this wall hanging is a
sample of the work done by Chuck and Margaret Layland, Birdsboro. This majestic cow
is also available as a weathervane.
