that is fed by the Elks, Northeast
and Octoraro Watersheds,” Haws
explained. “Participants on this
tour will see how farmers have
taken the responsibility of han
dling their livestock waste. ”

demise of Bay grasses, and
decreased the harvest of fresh
water and shell fishing in the bay.
The finger is pointed at the
nutrients from livestock wastes
and over-fertilization as the
culprit. The manure management
tour is one part of an Extension
Service/Conservation District
program to help farmers reduce
costs, increase their income and
alleviate damages to neighboring
property owners.
Bus transportation will leave
Faggs Manor Church (Route 926,
between Route 10 and Route 41) at
9:30 a.m. Return is scheduled at
3:15 p.m. A bag lunch will be
provided for those riding the bus,
