The Kirkwood Community 4-H Club closed its year with judging at the Union Presbyterian Church on. August 2. In the craft club, superior awards were given to Debbie Greenleaf for macrame and to Melanie Wallace for counted cross stitch. Members getting blue ribbons in macrame were Heidi Hallman, Sandy Whiteside, Teresa Pappas, Lisa Bilger and Kim Smith. Counted cross stitch blue ribbon winners were Vicki Peters, Jill Hamish, Heidi Hallman, Sandy Whiteside, Lorraine Gregor, Karen Pletz, Alyssa Morrison, Missy Walton and Sue Hastings. Jenny Hamish and Karen Pletz received blue ribbons in needlepoint. Swedish embroidery first place winner was Jenny Hamish. Karen Pletz received a blue ribbon for her English muffin loaf. Cooking leaders were Jane Hallman, Teresa McMahon and Pat Robertson. The vegetable and strawberry clubs were led by Dwight Wallace. Brian Harnish took first in vegetables. Brian, Jenny and Jill Hamish all received blue ribbons for their strawberry projects. The rocketry club leader was Don Htutinps Brian Hamish. There was a showmanship demonstration at the farm of Aleida Farrington. The next meeting will be held at Penryn Park on September 5 at 7:30 p.m. «dth judging Keith Hoffman and Ryan Kreider each got a blue ribbon. Kent Hastings received a superior ribbon. Ray Wallace received a first in pet care. The handyman club was lea oy Gilbert Unde and Jon Bland. Receiving blue ribbons were Davie Hallman, picture frame; George Prange, lawn bench; Kent Hastings, walnut spool rack; Jeff Gregor, walnut bird house; Mike Graver, oak bird house; and Jay Gregor, flamingo. Vema Mae Walton was the flower club leader. Jenny Hamish, Jill Harnish and Missy Walton all received blue ribbons. Michelle Horner and lisa Bilger received superior ribbons for their tailored suits in sewing. Others receiving blue ribbons were Cindy Kreider and Melanie Wallace for a skirt and blouse.
