New book features Heebner firm
TELFORD - A book
written by a Telford
man on a pioneering
manufacturer of farm
machinery in Penn
sylvania will be
available for the first
time at next week’s
annual Rough and
Tumble reunion at
Paradise.
The book, written by
Francis Blase Jr., of
County Line Road,
Telford, is entitled
“Heebner & Sons,
Pioneers of Farm
Machinery in America,
1840-1926.”
The book centers on
the Heebner & Sons firm
of Lansdale and covers
nearly a century of
operations from the
days when ag
mechanization first
dawned on a large scale
to the start of giant
assembly line
production.
Blase has worked on
the history for the past
four years. The book is
in two parts one
dealing with the history
of the Heebner firm and
the other containing an
illustrated description
of many of the pieces of
fanning machinery it
manufactured.
The book will also be
available at the 250th
anniversary celebration
of the Schwenkfelders
this fall. David S.
Heebner, who founded
the firm, was a Sch
wenkfelder.
