field to the economy of our state.
There will be exhibits of all types
of livestock, including dairy cows,
dairy goats, and beef cattle. On the
machinery side, there will be farm
machinery displays by the Penn
sylvpnia Department of
Agriculture and a booth by the Egg
Producers Council. Many food
booths will center around such
Pennsylvania products as corn on
the cob, ice cream, various fruits
and many other goods produced by
Pennsylvania farmers.
New events for this year include
a frisbee dog contest and a
celebrity goat milking contest. The
frisbee dog contest is open to the
public and will include a demon
stration and a clinic. The goat
milking contest will feature local
celebrities including Lansdale
Mayor Mike DiNunzio; County
Commissioner Allan Myers; State
Representatives Ray Bunt, Robert
GodshaU, and George Saurman;
Bob Bern of the local band Bern
Revue; and a disc jockey from 94
WYSP in Philadelphia.
Also featured at the fair are
numerous exhibits of 4-H projects
which will be on display inside the
4-H building. The projects range
from clothing, foods and crafts,
woodworking, vegetables,
photography, rockets, nature, and
wildlife, to animal science. The
public is also invited to enter
finished products in open classes in
clothing, crafts, foods and
vegetables/
For the benefit of all who attend
the fair, the 4-H Animal Science
Club will sponsor an information
booth. Here one may find answers
to almost any type of question
about animals. The information
will consist of other literature,
referal and is free of charge. The
booth will be open during most of
the Fair.

Beaver Springs posts
dairy show results
BEAVER SPRINGS One
hundred-eighteen 4-H and F.F.A.
members exhibited their animals
at the Area Youth Dairy JShow at
Beaver Springs in Snyder County
on Thursday, August 2,1984.
The type judge was Paul An
derson from Penn State;
showmanship judge was Melodee
LeVan from Milton; fitting judge
was Cindy Shaffer from Beaver
town; and ringmaster was Earl
Wehr from Mifflinburg.
In the type show, Kenneth Beiler
of Mifflinburg showed the grand
champion holstein and Gregory
Shultz of Danville the Reserve
Grand Champion. The jr. cham
pion Holstein was exhibited by
Kevin Smith of Milton and the
reserve jr. champion by Tonya
Scholl of Selinsgrove.
In the Jersey breed, Jennifer
Cromis of Danville showed the
grand champion and Judi Troxell
of Middleburg showed the senior
champion.
In the Ayrshire breed, James
Walters of Middleburg showed the
grand champion and Bradley
Shultz of Danville the reserve
grand champion.
In the Brown Swiss competition,
Kurt Brown of Klingerstown
showed the grand champion and
Christy Ross of Sunbury the
reserve grand champion.
Bonny Sue Wolfe of Sunbury
showed the grand champion
Guernsey and Susan Moslock of
Danville the reserve grand
champion.
In addition to those winners
mentioned, all blue ribbon winners
will be going on to district shows.
The F.F.A. District Show will be
held at Reedsville on Friday,
August 17, and the 4-H District
Show at Beaver Springs on Friday,
August 31st.

thousand Ripken posters will be
available in 20 Wa Wa stores in the
Greater Baltimore Area, and
16,000 Schmidt posters will be
given away in 200 stores located in
the Greater Philadelphia Area.

Mike Schmidt posters when a

party package. The campaign,
which began Aug. 1, will continue
until all posters have been given

The Mike Schmidt and Cal
Ripken Jr. posters were created
and produced by the Middle
Atlantic Milk Marketing Area
(MAMMA) and were offered to
interested dairy stores and
organizations.
