LANCASTER - “A lot of
quality, and depth of quality within
classes,” was judge Henry
Gruber’s assessment of the 121
hogs vying for top honors in this
year’s Lancaster County FFA
Market Hog Show and Sale on
Thursday at the Lancaster
Stockyards.
Repeating her 1983 win,
Margaret Herr once again
exhibited the grand champion hog,
a Duroc-Spot cross purchased
from Keith Bard of Lewistown.
Later that day, Herr’s 230-pound
champion (also the middleweight
champion) brought the top price of
the day when Ken Smoker of
Walter M. Dunlap and Sons paid
Clemens of Hatfield Packing Company.
