Angus Breeders Show features new steer event

CENTRE HALL - While both
the number of entrants and overall
attendance increased over last
year’s first annual Pennsylvania
Angus Breeders Show, two things
remained the same at this year’s
July 14, event.

Thanks to New Holland’s Kristin Chupp this year's grand championship in the steer
division came home to Lancaster County. Sired by Fairfield High Guy, Chupp’s 1,125-
pound entry was bred by Rally Farm.

champion in open competition.

heifer is a March 1983 daughter of Pine Drive Big Sky.

A few of Pennsylvania’s top
junior Angus contenders barely
had time to catch a breath after
attending the national show in
Columbus on July 8 to 10. One of
those was Eric Ligo of Mercer,
who, less than a week after placing
fourth in his class in Ohio, went all
the way to the top at Centre Hall.

in the junior show went to Queen
Victoria 3 of WV, owned by Erica
McClellan of Kennett Square. This
daughter of Mr. Angus 8017 was
also the intermediate heifer
champion.
Of the junior show heifers
competing for the bred-and-owned
championship, DSK Grand Erica
683 was judged number one.
Owned by Diane S. Krause of
Slatington, this Power Play
daughter was also selected as
reserve champion in the in-
termediate division.
