    Order 4 base milk price $13.37 for June
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Middle
Atlantic Order Market Ad
ministrator Joseph D. Shine today
announced a June 1984 base milk
price of $13.37 per hundredweight
and an excess milk price of $11.90.
The weighted average June price
of $13.36 was 34 cents below a year
earlier.
The butterfat differential for
June was 17.3 cents, up from 16.9
cents a year ago. The advertising
withholding rate, which is
deducted from the base and excess
milk price but not the weighted
average price, was 10 cents a
hundredweight, compared to 14
cents last year.
Shine said that producer receipts
totaled 477.3 million pounds during
June, a drop of over 31 million
pounds or 6.1 percent from June
1983. The average daily delivery
per producer decreased 100 pounds
or 4.1 percent from last June to
2,311 pounds. The number of
producers declined from 7,031 last

producer milk totaled 221.9 million
pounds and accounted for 46.50
percent of total producer milk
receipts compared with 44.45
percent a year ago.
During the first 6 months of 1984
total pooled producer milk receipts
(3.0 billion pounds) have declined
over 130 million pounds or 4.2
percent from the same period in
1983 (with adjustment made for the
extra day in 1984). Base milk
accounted for 93.07 percent of total
producer milk receipts in June
compared with 90.61 percent last
year. The average butterfat test of
producer milk increased from 3.49
percent a year ago to 3.55 this
June.
Middle Atlantic Order pool
handlers reported Class I in-area
milk sales of 188.6 million pounds
during June, a decrease of 0.7
percent from a year earlier, after
adjustment to eliminate variation
due to calendar composition.
