    PITTSTOWN, N.J. - Sam
Leon’s sod farm near Pittstown,
N.J. will be the location of this
year’s Farmers’-Businessmen’s
picnic, scheduled for Tuesday,
July 31, reports August Knispel,
chairman of the planning com
mittee.
“This affair is a tradition in
Hunterdon County, N.J. that dates
back to the mid-30’s,” says
Knispel. “It provides an op
portunity for the farming com
munity to Join with their
businessmen associates in an
evening of fellowship, fun and
excellent food.”
Leon’s Sod Farm will provide an
interesting site for the picnic. The

marketed direct to consumers, but
principally to landscaping con
tractors. It is the first time we
have visited a sod farm, says
Knispel.
There will be wagon tours of the
farm, starting at 5:30 p.m.,
demonstrations of equipment, a
refreshing milk punch served by
the Hunterdon Dairy Princess and
the County’s Farm Bureau Queen.
Exhibits of commodities will also
be part of the County Board of
Agriculture-sponsored event.
