April was crowned by her sister Faith, the 1983-84 Dauphin County dairy princess. Sharon Lesher, R 1 Lykens, was named alternate dairy princess. April is the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lafferty, R 1 Lykens. She will be a senior at Upper Dauphin Area High School in the fall. Her school activities include the yearbook staff, National Honor Society, softball and school musicals. She has also received a U.S. Achievement Academy Art Award. April is also active in the Upper Dauphin 4-H Dairy Club, Upper Dauphin Sheep and Goat Club, and the 4-H Ex change Club. More than 300 members from throughout the state are expected to convene for a series of educational workshops to prepare them for the offices they hold in their local granges. Woodrow Tucker of Rhode Island, High Priest of Demeter for the National Grange, will be the keynote speaker at a banquet on Saturday night. Tucker heads the fraternal work of the organization at the national level and will ad dress the group on ritualism and other fraternal aspects of the grange organization. Awards will be presented during the banquet for the State Grange sewing contest. While at the college, members also will enjoy various summer recreational activities.
