    MANSFIELD The second
annual Dairy Day festivities ended
Saturday June 2, at Mansfield High
school with Deanna Egli being
crowned the 1984 Tioga County
Dairy Princess.
Deanna is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ray O. Egli, Jr. of R 1
Roaring Branch. She is a junior at
Canton Area High school. Her
school and community activities
include varsity cheerleading,
Canton High' School Marching
Warrior Band and concert band,
American Field Service. 4-H, State
FFA band, YEA, softball and
Future Farmers of America,
where she was recently elected
chapter president. After com
pleting her senior year of high
school, she plans to attend St.
Joseph’s School of Nursing in
Elmira, New York.
Brenda Robson, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Robson, Jr, of R 2
Mansfield, and Sherri Webster
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James
Webster of Rl, Osceola were
named dairy princess alternates.
Deanna Egli, Tioga County’s 1984 dairy princess, will
represent the county’s milk industry in the coming year.

Deanna will attend a training
seminar at Lycoming College m
July and then the state pageant at
the Mariott Inn, Harrisburg, in
September. She will represent her
county at many local events,
parades, shows, and will give
programs and presentations at
meetings and schools for the
promotion of milk and dairy
products throughout the upcoming
year.
During Dairy Day the con
testants participated in the
parade, and in a milking contest
where they each milked by hand
for one minute. Sherri Webster
came out the winner in this event
with the most milk. During the
afternoon the girls had interviews
with the judges, who were Donna
Baker of Camillus, New York, a
former New Jersey state dairy
princess, and dairy princess
coordinator; Bill Douglas of
Canajohane, New York, NEDCO
director of education; and Viola
Metzger of Canton, Pa., former
Bradford County dairy princess

Before the pageant the con
testants, their families, judges and
committee attended a buffet
dinner at the Mark’s Brothers
Restaurant, Mansfield.
At the pageant, Master of
Ceremonies, Jack Rieppel of
Mansfield, interviewed each of the
contestants, asking them for their
favorite pari of Dairy Day and a
question pertaining to the milk
industry. Each contestant also
presented a talk on dairy
promotion. Entertainment for the
evening was the Mansfield Men’s
Chorus.

Other events for the day were a
chicken barbeque furnished by the
Mansfield Lions Club, a petting zoo
by the Junior Holstein Club, ad
visors Bud and Leona Robson,
including pigs, rabbits, chickens,
turkey, lamb, calves and more. In
the cow milking contest Dean
McKay of Roseville took first place
in the adult division and Willy
Wilcox of Coving won first place in
the junior division.
A 4-H “slave” auction was held
during which 22 Tioga County
personalities were auctioned over
the block to the highest bidders to
serve as their slave for a day to do

Other events included a barbed
wire splicing contest, ice cream
eating contest, wheelbarrow race,
calf pail race, and cow coloring
contest.
A 10 kilometer race had started
the day. Chris Ludy of Horseheads,
New York was the overall winner
coining in with a time of 33.44.
Overall female winner was Sue
Maynard of Towanda with a time
of 44.15.
