UNIVERSITY PARK - If you are a commercial strawberry grower or just have a serious in terst in small fruit production, Penn State Extension Service is sponsoring a two-day tour to Maryland’s Eastern Shore. This is the heart of the strawberry nur sery area in Eastern U.S.A. Planned stops include a tour of Rayner’s Nursery, the University of Maryland research farms, the USDA Research Farm at Belt sville, and last but not least, a stop at a Maryland seafood restaurant. The tour is scheduled for July 10 and 11 by charter bus from the Pittsburgh area. Cost will be $75.00 per person for transportation and one night’s lodging. Meals will be on an individual basis. This tour is open to all and will be a great opportunity to see the nursery production and the latest research in small fruit growing in the east. We need at least 25 reservations to make the tour.
