NEDCO elects two new leaders
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Two dairy
executives with the Northeast
Dairy Cooperative Federation
(NEDCO) have been elected to
new leadership positions within the
cooperative.
Francis Meehan of Rexville,
N.Y. has been elected to succeed
Glenn Brown, Jr. of Randolph,
N.Y., as the cooperative’s vice
president. Meehan has seved as
NEDCO’s assistant treasurer since
1977.
Filling the vacancy left by
Meehan is Clarence Benson of
Lansing, N.Y., president of Bear
Lake Cooperative Milk Producers.
Meehan, a director of NEDCO’s
Southern Tier Bulk Milk Producers
Cooperative, is one of the state’s
top registered Holstein breeders.
His breeding herd of 100 Holsteins
is known throughout the northeast
and the nation. Meehan has been a
member of NEDCO’s Southern
Tier Cooperative for 22 years, and

merchandising and selecting agent
for many years.
The Rexville dairyman is
currently a member of the Board
of Directors of the National Milk
Producers Federation and he also
has been a member of Steuben
County Farm Bureau for 15 years
and has served as a member and
chairman of the board of trustees
for the Milk Producers Group
Insurance Trust.
He and his wife, Virginia,

who is herdsman. The couple has
six other children: William, 35;
Ronald, 33;. married daughters

NEDCO’s new assistant
treasurer, Clarence Benson, has
been a director of NEDCO’s
Owasco Valley Milk Producers
Cooperative since 1977, and is
affiliated with the Farm Bureau
State Dairy Committee. The
Lansing producer has supplied
milk to the Owasco Valley
Cooperative for about 20 years.
Benson owns two farms sited on
700 acres of fine loam honeyoye
soil. Clarence and his full-partner,
son Charles, work both farms,
milking 200 cows in a herd of 350
Holsteins.
