    SCHAEFFERSTOWN - The
Cedar Crest Young Farmers
honored those members with
outstanding crop and dairy
production accomplishments
during the past year at the
chapter’s annual banquet Tuesday
night at the Schaefferstown Fire
Hall.
Among those receiving awards
as announced by Richard Moore,
advisor were:
Corn Yield
Earl Hltz and Sons, first with 185
bushels an acre; and Mark Hitz,
second with 124.9 bu.
Hay Quality
Alfalfa - Earl Hitz and Sons,
first; and tied for second, Gerald
Export
ATLANTA, Ga.-The
U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s Com
modity Credit Cor
poration will offer 2
million bushels of its off
grade com to exporters
who agree to re-sell the
grain overseas,
Secretary of
Agriculture John R.
Block said today.
“In this offer we are
focusing on qualities of
grain for export that can
be priced competitively
in the world market,”
Block said.
“The sales of this off
grade com will not
reduce CCC’s stocks
below the exported
requirements of USDA’s
emergency feed
assistance program for
livestock,” he said.
CCC will issue an
announcement of sales
terms and will invite
bids in the near future.
Initial sales could be
completed in early
June, Block said.

Mrs. Alda Patches, chairperson

received the chapter’s honorary
YF award.
Cited as the chapter Outstanding
Young Farmer over 30 was Phares
Musser. Amos and Yvonne
Balsbaugh were honored with the
Community Service Award.
Scott Balsbaugh was honored
with the Past President's Award.
Tom Zartman, of the Ephrata
Chapter, brought greetings as
State Young Farmer President;
and Jeff Zuck spoke on behalf of
the Cedar Crest FFA.
