COCHRANVILLE - The
Chester County Dairy Princess
Pageant will be held on June 2
following a full day of activities at
the Cochranville Strawberry
Festival.
The festival will have interests
for young and old throughout the
day and will climax with the Dairy
Princess Pageant in the Com
munity Center.
Denise Ambler, 1963 Chester
County Dairy Princess and
daughter of Robert and Nancy
Ambler, Cochranville, will crown
her successor after serving her
year as Chester County’s
spokesperson for the dairy in
dustry.
Five girls will seek the title of
1964 Chester County Dairy Prin
cess. The winner will appear in
shopping malls, fairs, super
markets, schools and on radio and
television to educate consumers
about dairy products.
Contestants are Donna Sue
Bickel, the daughter of Harry and
Beth Bickel, 1335 S. New St., West
Chester; Susan K. Hostetter,
daughter of Donald and Dorcas
Hostetter, R 2 Parkesburg;
Elizabeth A. Jenkins, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William C. Jenkins,
Toughkenamon; Nancy R.
Stoltzfus, daughter of Raymond
and Jane Stoltzfus, R 1
Central 4-H
Dairy Club
The Central 4-H Dairy Club
recently held their April meeting
at the home of Steve Eisenhart.
Ray Branus spoke on “Feeding
Calves Ad-Lib Way and Dairy
Beef.”
The next meeting will be held on
May 14 at Diane and Angie Lang’s
house and will feature slides for
calf and heifer management.

Five seek Chester County Deity Princess title
Parkesburg; and Theresa Tkac
zuk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Tkaczuk, R 2 Elverson.
Donna, 16, is a student at
Unionville High School and a
member of 4-H Dairy Club and
Vocational Industrial Club of
America. She is active in her
church’s youth group and works in
the nursery. Her future plans in
clude Junior College, where she
plans to study cosmetology. A
liberal arts college may also be
part of her plans. The Bickel
family has a herd of 120 Holstein
cows.
Susan, 17, is a 1984 graduate of
Lancaster Mennonite School,
where she was active in Senior
Chorus and the softball team. She
is active in the Maple Grove MYF
and teaches the children’s classes.
She is looking forward to working
on the family dairy farm. The
Hostetters have 90 Holstein cows
which carry the Maple-Bound
prefix.
Elizabeth, 18, is a graduate of

Kennett High School and is em
ployed at New Bolton Center.
During high school she was a
member of the band, orchestra,
yearbook staff and senior class
play. Beth has been active in 4-H
for the past 10 years in Dairy and
Sewing Clubs. She is also a
member of County Council. Beth
owns four Jersey cows.
Nancy, 16 is a junior at Octorara
High School where she takes
college-prep courses. She is a

Society and many musical and
athletic groups. In the community
she is active in the Heel and Sit 4-H
Club, Manor Dairy Club and is a
member of a vocal singing group.
She is a candy striper at Bran
dywine Hospital and raised a
seeing-eye puppy for the Blind
Association. The Stoltzfus family
has a herd of 42 dairy cows.

Theresa Tkaczuk
work on the family farm and at

profession. Theresa’s many ac
tivities include vice-president of
Owen J. Roberts FFA, secretary of
Chester-Delaware County FFA
and Chester County Black and
White 4-H Club. She is a member of
St. Peters Roman Catholic Church,
Honeybrook. The Tkaczuk family
has a dairy herd of 85 Holstein and
Brown Swiss cattle. Theresa owns
one Holstein and one Brown Swiss.
