Deborah Price Berks County BY ROBIN PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent LEESPORT - Berks County dairymen were introduced to their new dairy princess, Deborah Price, on Saturday, May sth, at the ag center, Leesport. For most it was seeing an old friend. To Debbie, it was the culmination of the past two years of promoting milk as the alternate princess. Active throughout her life with dairy animals, goats, horses, and poultry, Debbie is well-known throughout the county and state for the achievements in 4-H. It seemed only fitting that this dairy production major at Penn State be crowned for what she has done throughout her life promote the qualities of milk while exhibiting the quality of agricultural youth. Debbie is the 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jere Price, R 2, Douglassville. She is a 1983 graduate of Daniel Boone High School and is currently studying at Penn State to become a veterinarian. As the 1984 Dairy Princess, Debbie will ap pear at schools and promotional functions for the Berks County Dairy Farmers Association. Selected as the 1984 Alternate was Tammy Schlappich, 17-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlappich Rl, Mohrsville. “Milk is the most natural and nutritious drink around,” Tammy stated in her presentation to the audience. “Milk is important no matter what age you are,” she told dairymen when answering her impromptu question.
