US No. 1- (Turn to Page A2S) Scheps (Continued from Page Al) shipped to the Bradford County plant, said he is in favor of the company’s plan for reorganization and would again ship his milk to the plant if the license were renewed. Commenting on the Milk Marketing Board and Scheps Cheese Company, Noble said, “A year ago you two were in the business to allow me to sell to Scheps. If the license is denied me, my investment in the cheese plant will go down the drain.” Noble, who said he was the “one who was burnt” in the deal, lost approximately $60,000 when the plant was closed last year. He said he had to sell cattle for cash and, therefore, has a lower volume of milk to sell. A committee of 120 dairymen, called the Ex-Scheps Producers, is also in agreement with the license renewal. Represented by Attorney Marian Schwalm Furman, Harrisburg, the committee “overwhelmingly supports the renewal of the Scheps license. ’ ’ In its testimony, PMMB questioned Scheps position on Cash on Delivery (COD) payments. According to PMMB executive secretary Gene Veno, the COD plan would require payment at the time of milk delivery. Veno said the Board could issue or deny the license renewal based on the facts of Scheps inability to pay producers and creditors. On the other hand, Veno said, if Scheps’ plan for reorganization is feasible a positive decision could be reached. Once the Board reviews the testimony a decision will be made. A final meeting is scheduled for June 13 at which time a decision may be made, Veno said.
