BlB—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, May 5,1984 Vo-Tech ag council ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Professionals from agricultural industry and vocational/technical education have joined forces to provide national leadership and direction for the total vocational instructional program at secon dary and postsecondary schools across America. The National Council for Vocational and Technical Education in Agriculture held their first meeting April 9-11 to adopt bylaws, elect officers and an executive committee, discuss funding and identify priorities for action in vocational and technical education. During the two-day meeting held at the Farmland Training School in Kansas City, Missouri, the council moved to set priorities for action in: integrating new technology into vocational and technical agricultural curriculums; collecting data on the manpower demands for agribusiness oc cupations and developing a FFA teams compete for honors ANNIVLLE Teams from Lebanon, Berks and Schuylkill Counties participated in area FFA contests on April 17. The council is the end product of nearly two years of work by the Ad-Hoc Steering Committee for National Leadership, sponsored as a special project of the National FFA Foundation by Farmland Industries, Inc. Financial support for the council will come from Farmland Industries, Inc., the National FFA Foundation and member organizations. The council made up of representatives from the U.S. Department of Education; American Vocational Association (AVA); National Vocational Agriculture Teachers’ Association (NVATA); National Young Far mer Education Association (NYFEA); National Association of Supervisors of Agricultural Education (NASAE); American Association of Teacher Educators in Agriculture (AATEA); the Procedure contest, the Little Dutchmen Team placed second. Other participating teams were Cedar Crest, first, Twin Valley, third; and Conrad Weiser, fourth. The Little Dutchmen chapter also participated in three speaking contests. Troy Moyer placed fifth in the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest, and Dale Balmer placed fifth in the Public Speaking Con test. In the FFA Creed Speaking Contest, Sue Elliott placed first. The Soil Conservation speaking contest consists of a six to eight minute memorized speech dealing with soil conservation.
