week’s close Slaughter Steers and
Heifers ranged 1.50-2.00 lower at
mid-session this week. Sharp
declines in dressed beef prices
(2.00-4.00 through Wednesday)
kept the demand cautious and at
midweek buyers turned very
bearish. Overall finish proved
ordinary with increased numbers
of weather stressed light-weight
cattle in the receipts. Cows fully
steady. Bulls 1.00 lower.
Estimated 5 day receipts 9100;
actuals last week 10219 and last
year 11413. Steers comprised 46
pet. of the receipts; Heifers 38 pet.,
Cows 9 pet., Feeders 6 pet.
