Sachets, by definition, are small bags filled with perfumed powder and stored with clothes. The “small bags” may be extravagant stitchery projects, lacy han dkerchiefs, or literally anything that can hold a scented mixture. The mixture itself may come from a kitchen, garden or a variety of speciality shops. Traditional sachet formulations date back centuries and often include flowers, oils, herbs, spices, lemon peels, orrisroot or other exotic ingredients. As an alternative, the modern sachet-maker can simply fill sachets with scented teas from the supermarket, dried flowers from the garden or purchased mixtures. Here are directions for making a simple sachet. MATERIALS: Fabric for sachet; embroidery floss; needle; lace; sewing supplies; sachet ingredients desired. STITCHING TIPS: 1.
