9 vegetable research projects approved
HARRISBURG
vegetable research projects
totaling $29,111 have been ap
proved for the 1984 Pennsylvania
Vegetable Research Program
(PVRP).
The research grant money,
obtained through contributions
from the 850 members of the
PVRP, will be utilized to fund six
on-going projects and three new
endeavors on subjects ranging
from vegetable consumption to
pest control.
Seven projects are slated for
study at Penn State. They include.
Increasing Vegetable Con
sumption: Identifying Facilitators
and Barriers to Use, $5,000.
Evaluation of Tomato
Varieties, $5,000.
Tomato Plant Spacing for
Fresh Market and Processing
Varieties, |5,000.
Scheduling Fungicide Ap
plications for Control of Tomato
Early Blight Disease,
Evaluating Tolerance to Ripe
Fruit Rot in Processing Tomato
