Involved in 4-H since childhood, Zoann brings with her knowledge of how the 4-H program works. “I did practically every project,” she said. “So I’m pretty familiar with 4-H.” Zoann grew up on a 1,000 acre farm in Edmeston, New York, where she was accustomed to helping with all the farm chores. During her years in 4-H she said she was particularly active in the beef program and was beef director at the Farm Show one year. She was also the National Charlet Queen and the New York Beef Queen. Following her graduation from Cornell, where she majored in ag education, Zoann worked as a substitute teacher and as a dairy inspector. But when she was of fered a 4-H job in Lancaster County, she saw it as an excellent opportunity for her. In New York, she said, farmers admire Lan caster County’s agriculture.
