B2o—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, April 21,1984 v YORK Melissa Trestle of York County, Pennsylvania has been named the 1964 York County Sheep and Wool Queen. Seventeen-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Trostle of Red Lion, Melissa raises Southdown and Hampshire Sheep. Melissa got involved in sheep when she received a lamb in a “Ewe Chain Lamb Contest” sponsored by the York County Sheep and Wool Producers Association. In two years Melissa has increased her flock and has been active in both county and state shows. A junior at Dallastown Area High School, Melissa has many awards to her credit as a result of her 4-H sheep project. She was named Champion Showman, 1983 Shepherdess, took first place in lead line competition, and showed the Champion and Reserve Champion Southdown Ewe and Champion Ram in 4-H competition at the 1983 York Fair. In addition, Melissa is quite ac complished in both livestock and meats judging. She has competed on a state and national level in these areas and has received many first place honors. Melissa’s 4-H involvement in cludes the East Prospect 4-H Community Club, and the York County Sheep, Swine, Rabbit, Horticulture and County Council Clubs. She also was named the 1983 Outstanding Girl in the York County 4-H program. Melissa is the 1984 Mid-Atlantic Southdown Queen. She will be attending sheep shows in the Mid- Atlantic Region throughout 1984 and will be entering national competition in November in Louisville, Kentucky. Melissa is interested in promoting the sheep industry throughout York County.
