N.J. Poultry
Wednesday, April 18
Report supplied by USDA
Market Comment: Prices
sharply lower. Offerings of live
have increased and are ample
particularly since most plants will
not run full due to scheduled down
time for the holiday. Canner pack
prices have also dropped sharply.
Prices Paid at Farm:
Light Type Hens; 12-15, mostly
13-20.
F. 0.8. Plant; 14-17, mostly 15.
Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, April 19
Report supplied by UBDA
Market Comment: Movement on
ready to cook whole birds is im
proved but still ranges from slow
to only fair. Additional product
remains available, but some plants
indicate that planned features for
next week has helped keep their
inventories in better balance.
Cutlets and breasts are fully
adequate to ample overall. Legs
and leg quarters have moved into a
much better balance as the in
terest has picked up.
Slaughter schedules are
moderately heavy with projected
kill for Friday running 80% of a
normal kill.
Live supplies are adequate at
desirable to heavy weights. Un
dertone barely steady.
Today’s L.T.L. asking prices are
4 cents lower on U.S. Grade A at 51-
56 cents when compared to last
week.
Estamated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva (000).

Philadelphia Eggs
Thursday, April 19
Report supplied by USDA
MARKET COMMENT: Prices
unchanged to higher. Cartoned egg
orders remain fairly heavy but the
majority of dealers find that
movement is not up to last year’s
levels. Traders indicate that
relatively high retail prices and
the lack of feature activity have
their overall improvement.
Floor stocks of large are no more
than adequate and closely cleared
while other sizes are adequate to
fully adequate. Most packers are
having no trouble filling orders,
and the normal last minute rush is
not expected. Seller offerings are
increased and at least adequate for
needs.
Undertime steady to weak.
