New Holland adds mower
NEW HOLLAND A new, 7-foot
heavy-duty disc mower has been
added to the Sperry New Holland
hay equipment line. The new
Model 463 mower features six
heavy-duty discs with free
swinging reversible knives that
turn at 3000 RPM. A heavy-duty
PTO with overrunning clutch and
replaceable wear plates for the
cutterbar are additional features.
Knives are heavier than on
previous models.

CONCORD, MASS. - Cobb,
Incorporated of Concord, Mass.,
and Tyson Foods, Inc. of
Springdale, Ark., have announced
a joint venture to breed and
develop the Cobb 500, a breeder
female featuring fast growth, low
fat and high meat yield.
The two companies will each
own one-half of the new venture
called Arkansas Breeders, which
will pedigree the Cobb 500 at Pea
Ridge, Ark. Cobb will distribute
and service the 500 throughout the
United States and Canada. The
joint venture does not involve
Cobb’s male and new breeder
pullet or Tyson’s Vantress line.

Leland Tollett, Tyson’s president
and chief operating officer, says
the joint venture will give them
access to the 500, which he feels is
“the best breed of its type in the
world.” Tyson will use substantial
quantities of the 500 to meet
market demands when full
production is attained.
Tollett further states that the
Cobb 500 bird will enable Tyson to
continue expansion in the growing
value-added and deboned chicken
markets.
