    Mifflinburg honors FFA members and supporters
MIFFUNBURG - A week delay
due to bad weather wasn’t enough
to deter 300 persons from honoring
members and contributors of the
Mifflinburg High School Future
Farmers of America Chapter
during its 54th annual banquet
March 20.
Two of the banquet’s top award
winners were John Hauck, son of
Mrs. Phyllis Hauck and the late
John Hauck, and Brian Shively,
Hunterdon County 4-H nows
Tally-Ho 4-H
Horse Club
Members of the Tally-Ho 4-H
Horse Club recently elected their
1984 officers. They are: president,
Kim Ryan; vice-president, Kim
Snyder; treasurer, Jennifer
Sohmer; reporter, Erin Smith;
pledge leader, Anna Visser and
scrapbook keeper, Carolyn
Tumolo.
Members plan to participate in 4-
H Day at the Mall, Window Display
Contest and Trail Rides.
The club is accepting new
members. Meetings are held the
first Friday of each month at 7:30
p.m. at the Extension Center.
Their next meeting is scheduled
for April 6, notes, Eric Smith, club
reporter.
Crafty Creators
Mrs. Twine, a 4-H parent,
showed Crafty Creators 4-H Club
members how to stencil. The group
stencilled their designs on small
pillows. Foods members prepared
lasagna and tossed salad at their
most recent meeting.
Members will participate at 4-H
Day at the Mall and set up a
display for the County Window
Display Contest in May, Mary Pat
Nester, club reporter said.
Clever Clovers
Clever Clovers 4-H Club mem
bers held their March meeting
at Delaware Township
School. Members plan to par
ticipate in 4-H Day at the Mall,
Window Display Contest, Ceramic
Workshop and Herbs Workshop.
Many of the members gave
presentations during the meeting.
They were: Michele Pitbladdo,
Brenda Wiley, Helen Knight, Carol
Nethery, Karin & Laura Bond;
Beth Powell, Mynajayne Joseph
and Rachel and Sarah Wmgerter.
Members will hold their April
meeting at Delaware Township
School on the 18th. They will make
favors to be taken to a local nur
sing home, said Sarah Wmgerter,
club reporter.
Reinbow Riders
Reinbow Riders 4-H Horse Club
members held their March
meeting recently. Loma Thomas
shared County 4-H Horse Council
notes with the club. She helped the
members complete their record
books.
A bake sale will be held shortly
at the Barn Door Shop, Angel
Hanson, club reporter said.
Magic Munchkins
4-H Prep Club
New officers were chosen at the
Magic Munchkins 4-H Prep Club’s
last meeting. The new officers are:
Samantha Silk wood, president;
Kate Silkwood, vice-president;
Eric Wesch, secretary; and Amy
Voorhees, treasurer. Members
visited the Weller Center in Eason
during one of their club field trips.
They will participate in the
county 4-H Window Display
Contest. Each member gave a talk
to the rest of the group on their
favorite house pet. Members will
work on their club window display
during the next meeting, reports
Pam Silkwood, club co-leader.

Hauck, the chapter president,
received a plaque for bung a
Keystone Degree recipient and the
1984 State Star Farmer. He also
captured a Foundation Award for
crop production as well as a gold
and first place award for his
project book at state and regional
contests.

4-H Horse Club
Members in the Saddle-Up 4-H
Horse Club held their March
meeting at the Pellizzari home in
Whitehouse Station. A slide
program on the Birth of Foals was
given.
Anne Hellyer, club co-leader,
showed the members how to keep
their record books. The club will
set up a window display for the
county contest in May.
Their next meeting will be held
on April 24 at the Pellizzari home
on Dailey Street in Whitehouse
Station, said Alissa Pellizaan, club
reporter.

Pins & Needles
Members of the Pins & Needles
4-H Club learned hot to stencil on
fabric at their Arts & Crafts March
meeting. They will make fabric
frames for their stencilled pictures
at their next meeting.
Five members participated in
the Mid-Year Clothing Judging.
Heidi Bundt, Lisa Mealing and
Tanya Gronsky worked as judges.
Working as hostesses were Sharon
Smith and Darlene Blanchard.
Smith and Blanchard also received
excellents on their judged gar
ments. Members participated in
the County Presentation Contest
and plan to take part in 4-H Day at
the Mall, scheduled for April 7,

Kuhns Brothers Lumber was
recipient of the Chapter Citation
Award given to a business that
serves the FFA. The company
sponsors the Kuhns Brothers
Forestry Award which was
presented to Duane Shively.
Shively attained the highest score
at the fall forestry contest. Also,
employee Ken Balliet trains
members for the state forestry
contest.
