show, students train animals
chosen at a random drawing. A
champion fitter and showman will
be selected from each species
beef cattle, horses, sheep, and
swine. From these, an overall
grand champion showman will be
named.
For his dedication and service as
Block and Bridle’s advisor, this
year’s Little International is
dedicated to Harold W. Harpster,
assistant professor of animal
science at Penn State. Harpster
teaches animal nutrition to un
dergraduates and graduates, and
is doing extensive research in
feedlot nutrition with beef cattle.
Harpster and his family reside on a
small farm in Pennsylvania
Furnace.

Clowser of Dayton is superin
tendent of beef cattle and his
assistants are Kevin P. McLaren
of Meadville and Thomas S.
Russell of Bethesda, Md.
Sharon L. Wagaman of
Waynesboro is superintendent of
horses and Jeff A. Brown of Port
Allegany is her assistant. For
sheep, Ron A. Ferguson of
Fredonia is superintendent and his
assistant is Kelly J. Diehl of
Metuchen, NJ. Nelson R. Beam of
Elverson is the swine superin
tendent and his assistant is Dave
W. Hartman of Turbotville.
Admission to the April 21 show is
free and the public is invited to
attend the day’s activities.
