YORK SPRINGS - For
members of the Adams County
Beef Producers Association there
was no doubt that the beef was at
the York Springs Community Hall
on Saturday, March 31.
The occasion was the Eighth
Annual Beef Ball and Parade of
Bulls, attended by more than 250
members and friends.
Following dinner and the in
troduction of guests by ACBPA
president Ray Grimes, the 1984-85
Adams County Beef Queen was
introduced by Frank Darcy Jr.,
founder of the organization.
Taking over this year’s duties as
queen is Tina Hawn, daughter of
Patrick and Patricia Hawn of
Biglerville. Miss Hawn was
crowned by outgoing queen Julia
Ann Crum.
This year’s recipients of the Beef
Producers Award were Craig and
Faith Peterson of Spring Run
Farm in Abbottstown.
A past president of the
Craig is a director of the Pa. Polled
Hereford Association. His wife,
Faith, is currently secretary of the
ACBPA, and serves as a director of
the Maryland Polled Hereford
Association. The couple has been
raising Polled Herefords for the
past eight years at their Spring
Run Farm in Abbottstown, and are
expecting a crop of 13 calves this
spring
