Springs Equipment, Inc. of Alton and Ralph Miller founded
Springs, pa., started as an auto the business in 1939 under the
garage but soon converted to an name Miller Brothers and
Allis Chalmers farm equipment operated it as an auto garage until
dealer. 1941, when they converted to farm
The Model 333 "No-Til" Special planter from Allis-
Chalmers Corporation is designed for conservation tillage
applications and features a bolted frame which allows it to
flex over rough ground. In addition, the planter's fluted
coulters are mounted to one of three tool bars approximately,
12 inches from the planter unit. This close mounting allows
units to follow the coulter in hillside planting. Mounting the
coulter to the planter frame, instead of the unit, reduces
bouncing and assures coulter penetration. The Model 333
“No-Til" Special can be equipped with either air or plate
planters and, as an option, a horizontal auger fill system can
be added for filling granular fertilizer hoppers from the
ground.

the Allis Chalmers line.
In 1976 Alton’s son, Larry,
bought his uncle Ralph’s part of
the business and in 1980 Larry and
his wife, Gerry, bought the rest of
the business Larry Miller has
been a full-tune employee of the
business since 1973 when he started
in sales. Today he and his wife
operate the business which offers
service, parts, lawn and garden
equipment and farm equipment.
In 1982 Springs Equipment won
the Circle of Honor award for parts
dollar increase. Larry said that
business volume has more than
doubled since 1976.
The business serves parts of
three .counties in Pennsylvania,
two counties in Maryland and
three counties in West Virginia
Some of Springs Equipment’s
key employees are: Menno Yoder,
service manager; Randy Glofelty,
parts manager; and Martha
Miller, office manager.
