Penn State-consigned animals dominated pre-sale grading, winning three of the four categories. Champion yield grade cow was PS Miss Victor 123, a Gold Rush daughter, later sold to Mike Firestein of Womelsdorf, for $1200., and Champion Bull was PS Main Frame 302, sired by JRM Framework 821. Five Point Pastures, of Greensburg, took Champion Junior Heifer honors with FPP Saras Vicki 6R, daughter of FPP Saras Rndp 114 M. The heifer was sold to Debora Klair of Hochessin, Del., for $llOO. Pre-sale grading was done by Bill Holloway, farm consultant for the Glatfelter Insurance Agency of York. Guests on hand to help celebrate the first PPHA sale since 1981 were PPHA president John Hausner, PPHA vice president Les Midla, APHA area representative Ernie Smith, PPHA Queen Lisa Brudney, and president of the Maryland PHA, Ron Mills who, together with Andy Schmidt, acted as nngmen. Preceedmg the sale were remarks by Ernie Smith, APHA area rep., who noted that grading was consistently high among the animals registered.
