Thursday, Match 22
Report supplied by USDA
Losses of 1.00-2.00 in a sluggish
dressed beef trade led fed cattle
prices downward, with week end
levels on Steers and Heifers
standing 1.00 lower than last week.
The fact that packers held small
line inventories and salable
receipts ran on the light side, kept
the demand fairly good. Sizeable
purchases of Steers suitable for a
short turn in the feedlots also
provided a stabilizing factor in the
trade. Mud continued to present a
major problem, with little near
term relief in sight. Overall finish
again showed some improvement.
Cows .50-1.00 higher. Bulls steady.
Estimated 5 day receipts 8300;
actuals last week 12789 and last
year 9167. Steers comprised 45 pet
of the week’s receipts, Heifers 34
pet. Cows 8 pet.; Feeders 12 PCX.

64.50-66.50. Mixed Good and Choice
2-3 1100-1350 lbs. Holsteins 58.50-
