Lamb grading changed
WASHINGTON, D.C.
The U.S. Department
of Agriculture has
proposed changes in
U.S. standards for
grades of slaughter
lamb, yearling and
sheep.
Thomas H. Porter, of
USDA’s Agricultural
Marketing Service, said
the proposed changes
would align the
Heavy-duty hay fork cited
LITCHFIELD, 11. - The Model
HAF-4048, a heavy-duty hydraulic
adjustable fork with increased
height extension, is being in
troduced by Worksaver, Inc., of
Litchfield, 11. It is the latest ad
dition to Worksaver’s line of 15 hay
handling models.
The 4048 is mounted on the rear
of a tractor, fitting Category II
standard and quick hitches. It can
handle large hay bales and other
bulky Items up to 4,000 lbs, and the
2 - 1/2” diameter hydraulic
slaughter standards
with recently-revised
standards for lamb,
yearling mutton and
mutton carcasses.
The carcass stan
dards were changed to
allow carcasses with
only one break joint - in
a young lamb, the point
where the foot is
removed during
slaughter to be
cylinder raises the forks 48” above
tractor height.
The 4048’s forks adjust from 6”
to 44” center-to-center, and the
optional top link cylinder provides
level and tilt control from the
tractor seat. The top link cylinder
replaces standard Category II
manual top links.
