It is powered by a 3- bladed propeller in the air stream. Adjusting the pitch of the propellor blades changes the speed of the cylinder and regulates the size of the droplets. The air stream then deposits the droplets uniformly over a swath of 50-60 feet. Droplets are produced in a narrow spectrum over the range of sizes. The air blast is an important part of the operation, according to Ryder Supply. It deposits the droplets on the foliage, penetrating the canopy to coat underside of leaves and stems.
