the initiation of possible action
against them.
Continued non-compliance can
result in a formal hearing before
the Board that could lead to
revocation of a license and-or a
150.00 fine.
The new law also requires the
licensing of auction houses and
companies for the first time in
Pennsylvania.
If an auction house or company
is owned by a licensed auctioneer,
it only need be properly registered
with the board. But if either an
auction house or company is owned
by other than a licensed auc
tioneer, it must secure a license
from the board.
“We’re receiving applications
for licenses from auction houses
we had never even heard of
before,” saidGlowacki.
The law defines an auction house
as:

month period and where
representations are regularly
made that property is sold at
auction. The term does not include
premises where isolated sales are
conducted by an auctioneer or
auctioneer apprentice and which
are used primarily for purposes
other than auctions or sales at
auction.”
In another change, an applicant
for an apprentice auctioneer

exam to get the license.
Qualifications for an auctioneer
license state:

license, a person must have passed
the prescribed examination after
