LEWISBURG - The first An
nual Soil Conservation Society
Technical Session scheduled for
Thursday at the Country Cupboard
Restaurant, Lewisburg, will in
clude timely topics on con
servation tillage.
The keynote address on Con
servation Tillage will be presented
by Lynn Hoffman, Research
Association in Agronomy and
Manager of the Penn State
Agronomy Farm. Hoffman will
relate recent research and
practical experience in discussing
conservation tillage in today’s
modern agriculture.
Other timely subjects relating to

The subject of Soil Compaction has
become a very common topic for
discussion recently. Daniel
Fntton, Professor of Soil Physics,
will relate this subject to con
servation tillage.
Remote sensing has been
recognized for a number of years
as being an excellent tool to gather
data about land cover and soil
characteristics. Gary Peterson,
Co-Director of the Office for
Remote Sensing of Earth
Resources, will discuss the
relationship of remote sensing to
Conservation Tillage.
