Schuylkill makes fair plans
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - The
1984 Schuylkill County Fair will be
held Wednesday, Aug. 15, to
Sunday, Aug. 19, on the “old county
farm” just outside of Schuylkill
Haven. The Fair will begin at 5
p.m. on Wednesday with opening
ceremonies and will close about 6
p.m. on Sunday.
The Fair will feature the area’s
agricultural community with
livestock, livestock shows, hor
ticulture, family living, and 4-H
and FF'A projects and exhibits.
Over 450 classes of competition
will be available for participation.
The classes range from vegetables
and fruit to quilts and foods.
A Fair Premium Book will be
available by June 1 by contacting
the Extension Office. The cost will
be one dollar. All classes, rules,
entry fees, premiums, registration
forms, activities, entertainment,
and advertisers will be published
in the fair book. All entries must be
made on the official entry form(s)
printed in the fair book. Anyone
wishing to place an ad in the Fair
book should contact a 4-H member
or the Extension Office by March
23. An advertising form will be sent
to you for your information.

non-selling exhibits can be set up
free. Anyone that will be selling or
promoting anything for sale will be
charged $5.00 a front foot for
exhibits. The depth is unknown at
this time, but will probably be
about 15 feet. Equipment dealers
will receive a 50 x 50 foot space for
$50.00. Also, the Fair will collect
10%of the seller’s gross over
$500.00.
Anyone interested in display
areas should contact the Extension
Office for a reservation form.
Everything is on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Family booster
cards are available for a minimum
$3.00 donation.
The 1984 edition of the Schuylkill
County Fair will be chock-full of
entertainment and activities.
Some of the highlights include
entertainment by “Midnight
Express”, “Cheyenne”, “Desire”,
“Far From the City” (a blue-grass
group from Allentown), plus two
gospel groups. There’ll be a
livestock show in open, 4-H, and
FFA dairy, open and 4-H horse,
open goat, 4-H and open rabbit,
youth dog, 4-H and FFA sheep.
