Jay Irwin, the County Extension Director serves in the areas of Poultry and Farm Management; Glenn Shirk in Dairy, and Arnold Lueck in both Agronomy and Horticulture. My responsibility lies in the area of Livestock Production and following is what I reported to those attending the Annual Meeting in regards to my area of interest Working with livestock producers in the county, 1 find a great need in the areas of im proved ventilation and manure management, particularly in swine housing Several new heal saving and cost efficient ven tilation ideas have helped many producers improve production while decreasing energy bills Manure management ideas are of concern to many farmers, not only in keeping the inside environment healthy, but keeping our en vironment outside livestock Reba McEntire, on the other hand, is a star who is on the threshold of super-stardom in the world of country and western music. 1983 was a year of tremendous growth and diversity for Reba. In January, she racked up her first number one hit with the single, “I Can’t Even Get the Blues.” Soon after, she was given the honor of being the first country artist to have two consecutive number one records in 1983 when “You’re The First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving” reached the number one spot in April. Both singles were released off her top five album Unlimited, which showcased her rich, compelling voice through a variety of music styles. The excitement Reba generates at radio and on her records is also present in her live show. She’s now touring with some of country music’s biggest names and is having her biggest concert season yet. Reba’s recording career started to take off with her first album, Reba McEntire, and has continued to gain momentum. Her second album, Out of a Dream, earned her greater success with singles such as “Sweet Dreams,” “Runaway Heart,” and a popular duet with Jacky Ward called “That Makes Two of Us.” Reba’s third album, Feel the Fire, finally brought her into the top ten with the single “(Your Lift Me) Up to Heaven,” That album also includes the hits “I Don’t Think Love Ought To Be That Way” and “I Can See Forever In Your Eyes.” Recently, Reba became associated with MCA records, a move that she hopes will help her career tremendously. She is also busy with television appearances, radio features, and live stage shows, an indication that Reba is reaching levels that will win her more fans and a higher level of recognition.
