MELVIN M. LEHMAN - Owner Danville Buying Station Phone: 717-275-2880 • MarKetmg Board’s 12/3 Polybag promotion which began last week. According to the Western New York Apple Growers Newsletter of January 24, for the first time in 1982, there were one billion bushels of apples produced throughout the world. The United States produces about 1/5 of this volume. The apple bowl of the world is Europe which as a collection of countries, produces about 1/2 of the total world production. Thus, if the United States is to compete, we must do so aggressively in terms of price, promotion, supply stability and with a high quality product. For Pennsylvania growers now in the export market or anticipating entering the market, keep these facts in mind for a successful operation. SUMMARY BAGGED APPLES REG.
