Northwest Pennsylvania, New
York and Ohio attended the 23rd
annual meeting of the Nor
thwestern Pennsylvania Maple
Producers Association on Jan. 27.
This year’s program centered
around producing a quality maple
product. Robert Morgan, of Erie
Testing Laboratories, discussed
the laboratory procedures for
analyzing maple products and how
to determine if the maple syrup

samples of maple syrup the way it
is done at the Farm Show in
Harrisburg. The syrup samples
were scored on density, clarity,

was discussed as to why it was

County Dairy Day will be held
Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15
p.m at the Wayne County
Veterans Memorial Armory,
Tryon Street, Honesdale.
The educational speaker will be
Fred Hughes, Penn State Ex
tension farm management
specialist Other highlights will
include exhibits by agri-business
firms and farm organizations,
lunch provided by the exhibitors,
and door awards in the form of
U S Savings Bonds
In recent years, about 33
exhibitors have been cooperating
with the Wayne County
Agricultural Extension Service in
presenting Dairy Day Since space
is limited firms and organizations
interested in participating should
contact the Extension Service at
717-253-5970 ext. 114 to reserve a
spot.
This will be the sixth annual
Wayne County Dairy Day since it
was organized in 1979. About 325
dairy farm persons have been
attending, representing about one
half of the 345 dairy farms in
Wayne County.
All dairy farm persons are
welcome, but reservations are
requested and can be made by
contacting the Wayne County
Agricultural Extension Office,
Courthouse, Honesdale.
