Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, January 19
Report supplied by USDA
Market Comment: Ready to
cook movement on whole birds is
no better than fair and has slowed
down in most quarters. Most plants
easily fill order and have some
additional products available, but
a few still remain in a more
favorable balance. Movement on
parts is light and unaggressive
with the only improved call noted
on leg quarters for next week’s
shipment.
Overall slaughter is light as an
occasional plant is closed and
some others are cutting back on
their kill. In addition, some
downtime is scheduled for
tomorrow. Live supplies are tight
to adequate. Weights remain light
in most quarters. Undertone is
weak.
Today’s L.T.L. asking prices are
.01-.02 lower on U.S. Grade A at 62-
69 cents.

Market Comment: Pricing is
generally unchanged but a sharp
price differential does exist on
birds being slaughtered in the
quarantine area compared to those
outside the area. Current
schedules are limited due to
availability of live birds.

Eggs
Thursday, January 26
Report supplied by USDA
MARKET COMMENT: Prices
unchanged. Cartoned egg
movement is very irregular. While
orders vary between light and
heavy, most all dealers indicate
that their weekly volume has
dropped compared to last week.
Jumbos and extra large are in
excessive needs but some local
featuring helps keep the supply in
better balance in some quarters.
Large are generally no more than
adequate. Some inquiry is noted
for class l’s, but this can be filled if
buyers are willing to pay normal
relationships and not necessarily
look for a discount. Mediums are
adequate with additional lots of
graded loose available. Undertone
unsettled.
